Intermediate Care Technician

Performs observation-based screening and collecting of patient information in collaboration with licensed personnel. This may involve completing clinical reminders, obtaining patient health history, chief complaints, medical history, and identification of health-related conditions that may impact the patient's health status. Assists staff with the delivery of care to patients with complex, specialized, and potentially life-threatening situations. Prepares patients for medical evaluation, setting up equipment, passing instruments, and providing treatment during in person or virtual visits. Recognizes and responds to life threatening situations and acts to correct these emergent situations according to established national or local protocols. Changes dressings, manages wounds, removes sutures, and repairs simple lacerations. Evaluates patients for emergency medical conditions. Monitors and obtains test results as soon as available and inform physicians promptly to facilitate patient care. Performs specimen collection, reparation, and transfers to the lab for processing of blood, tissue, urine, stool, and sputum as a routine part of the position. Administers medications via a variety of methods which may include intramuscular, oral, topical, eye drops, ear drops, intranasal, rectal suppositories, local anesthetics, nebulized medications, subcutaneous, and intradermal. Documents actions, assessments, diagnostics, and procedures in the medical record. Work Schedule:

Experience:
Possess one (1) full year of specialized experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. Positions in this series range widely in type and include support duties to medical or health personnel such as audiologists, speech pathologists, medical officers, and optometrists. Therefore, technician experience is experience that required application of the knowledge, methods, and techniques of the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-06 grade level. Specialized experience includes evaluating patients for emergency medical conditions; monitoring and obtaining test results and providing them to the physician to facilitate patient care; assessing patient status and keeping physicians informed of any changes or the need for additional treatment. This experience must be detailed within your resume to receive credit. -OR- SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR
Experience:
One (1) full year of graduate education that is directly related to the work of the position. One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent 1 year of full-time study. If that information cannot be obtained from the school, 18 semester hours should be considered as satisfying the 1 year of full-time study requirement. Part-time graduate education is creditable in accordance with its relationship to a year of full-time study at the school attended. (Transcripts Required) -OR- COMBINATION OF EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION An equivalent combination of specialized experience and graduate education as described above that demonstrates the ability to perform the duties of this position. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
