Registered Nurse - Inpatient Float 5K SIGNON BONUS
The Registered Nurse- Inpatient Float provides nursing coverage primarily to the Medical (7E/7W), Surgical (5W) and Mental Health (9W) areas. May also be asked to assist with coverage in the Infusion and Outpatient areas. Duties Include but are not limited to:
Provides comprehensive nursing care to the Medical and Surgical patient population. This includes:
Performing initial and ongoing physiological, psychological, sociological, and spiritual assessments; obtaining health histories; providing care interventions and patient education about their treatment plan. Provides expert professional nursing care on the Med/Surg areas for the inpatient population during their stay. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care of the patient. Assures that the patient is prepared for admission, transfer and discharge by providing the necessary education to the patient and his responsible caregiver. Provides nursing care to the Mental Health (9W) patient population. Primary responsibilities when assisting on 9W will include providing 1:
1 care, passing medications. Demonstrates knowledge in operating medical equipment and is proficient with computers. Demonstrates ability to manage, organize and resolve problems. Requires flexibility in schedule and assignments; as this is a 24/7 hospital. Primary hours of the Inpatient Float RN are off tours (evening/night), weekends and holidays Work Schedule:

Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. The VA Medical Center is a major interdisciplinary teaching facility, serving medical, surgical, and mental health inpatients and outpatients. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing.Must be able to lift at least 45 pounds. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders.
