Registered Nurse - Clinical Manager OR/PACU/Ambulatory Surgery

The Clinical Manger Registered Nurse is the designated first-line supervisory authority, responsibility, and accountability for the 24/7 operations of their units, to include acting as a direct patient care provider when needed and ensuring that subordinate personnel provide timely nursing care which complies with generally accepted standards of clinical practice. This includes the authority to accept, amend, or reject the work of subordinates. Duties include but are not limited to:
Provides oversight of patient care and staffing requirements for efficient patient care and flow throughout the health care system. Follows staffing guidelines to ensure safe, appropriate patient care staffing throughout the clinical and procedural area. Assures patient flow through efficient and timely utilization of capital and human resources. Monitors performance improvement compliance, functions as a resource for patient care staff, and is responsible for pertinent records and reports to meet the needs of patient care services and the organization. Applies the nursing process to systems or processes at the unit/team/work group level to improve care. In addition, they create a safe and healthy work environment by promoting safe patient handling strategic plans. Demonstrates the ability to utilize problem solving skills to identify, analyze, and resolve issues/concerns. Assures compliance with national patient safety goals and evaluates practice of self and others against standard of practice and relevant accrediting and regulatory bodies (i.e., professional nursing organization, nurse practice acts, Joint Commission, OSHA) and takes action to improve compliance. Responsible for preparing formal evaluations of performance of employees under his/her supervision. Plans and implements effective educational programs for in-services, orientation, continuing education, and other personnel training in conjunction with the education department. Recommends approval, modification, or rejection of formal requests from subordinates for promotion, reassignment, status changes, and awards. Deals with our Union Partners and others where applicable on personnel matters. Work Schedule:

The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) or The Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE). In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement of graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. OR The completion of coursework equivalent to a nursing degree in a MSN Bridge Program that qualifies for professional nursing registration constitutes the completion of an approved course of study of professional nursing. Students should submit the certificate of professional nursing to sit for the NCLEX to the VA along with a copy of the MSN transcript. (Reference VA Handbook 5005, Appendix G6) OR In cases of graduates of foreign schools of professional nursing, possession of a current, full, active and unrestricted registration will meet the requirement for graduation from an approved school of professional nursing. Nurse I Level I - An Associate Degree (ADN) or Diploma in Nursing, with no additional nursing practice/experience required. Nurse I Level II - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 1 year of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a bachelor's degree in a related field with no additional nursing practice/experience; OR a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing (BSN) with no additional nursing practice/experience. Nurse I Level III - An ADN or Diploma in Nursing and approximately 2-3 years of nursing practice/experience; OR an ADN or Diploma in Nursing and a Bachelor's degree in a related field and approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a BSN with approximately 1-2 years of nursing practice/experience; OR a Master's degree in nursing (MSN) or related field with a BSN and no additional nursing practice/experience. The population of male and female veterans served ranges from the adult, age 18, to the elderly adult, age 65 and over. The VA Medical Center is a major interdisciplinary teaching facility, serving medical, surgical, and mental health inpatients and outpatients. This position requires visual acuity, keen hearing, clear distinctive speech, and manual dexterity. This position requires potentially long periods of continued walking, standing, stooping, sitting, bending, pulling, and pushing.Must be able to lift at least 45 pounds. Transferring patients and objects may be required. The incumbent may be exposed to infected patients and contaminated materials and may be required to don protective clothing in isolation situations or operative/invasive procedures. The incumbent may occasionally be exposed to patients who are combative secondary to delirium, dementia, or psychiatric disorders. The incumbent must be a mature, flexible, sensible individual capable of working effectively in stressful situations, able to shift priorities based on patient needs. The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
