Pharmacy Technician Supervisor

Major duties include but are not limited to:
Maintain Competence in the area of compounded sterile preparations and compounded hazardous medications. Maintain competence in all operational aspects of pharmacy service, including appropriate preparation, stability, handling, beyond use dating, and disposal. Demonstrate skill at using both written and communication techniques in teaching others. Assist in new employee orientation, competency assessments, and mentoring as required. Conduct monthly medication storage area inspection in inpatient wards and outpatient areas for audit purposes. Completes thorough inspections, documents findings, and shares findings with pharmacy management. Serve on department or medical center committees, adhere to all medical center and department policies and procedures. Respond to the needs of the Veteran and staff in a courteous and timely manner. Train, schedule and supervise all pharmacy technicians and students, ensure all pharmacy policies and procedures are followed and maximize efficiency Work Schedule:

A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Education or
Experience:
A high school diploma or equivalent; or at least 3 months experience. Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required. English language proficiency. In accordance with 38 U.S.C. 7402(d), no person shall serve in direct patient care positions unless they are proficient in basic written and spoken English. Pharmacy Technicians appointed to direct patient care positions must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with VA Policy (chapter 2, section D, paragraph 5a, this part) Certification. Certification by the National Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required at grades GS-6 and above. May qualify based on being covered by the Grandfathering Provision as described in the VA Qualification Standard for this occupation (only applicable to current VHA employees who are in this occupation and meet the criteria). Assignments:
For all assignments above the full performance level, the higher-level duties must consist of significant scope, complexity (difficulty), and range of variety, and be performed by the incumbent at least 25% of the time. Pharmacy technicians at this level may be assigned supervisory positions or assignments as lead technicians in a highly complex area of the pharmacy. The GS-8 level is for very select, complex pharmacy technician positions as established by each health care facility. To be advanced, employees must meet all of the following standards, provided the standard is part of their assignment. Grade Determinations:
In addition to the Basic Requirements above, to qualify for this position at the GS-8 level, you must meet the following requirements:
Experience:
One year of experience at or equivalent to (GS-7) and must fully meet the KSAs at or equivalent to the next lower level. The KSAs for the GS-7 level are:
1. Ability to evaluate, analyze workflow, and coordinate work activities. 2. Ability to independently gather, evaluate, and analyze data to generate reports and/or for other projects/statistical purposes. 3. Knowledge of pharmacy policies and procedures sufficient to rain and orient new employees and other staff. 4. Comprehensive knowledge of the operation and care of specialized pharmaceutical equipment. 5. Comprehensive knowledge of the procurement and formulary process. 6 Comprehensive knowledge of controlled substance policies and procedures, and the ability to identify and investigate discrepancies in these policies and procedures. 8. Comprehensive knowledge of, and ability to, analyze data in VA information systems. -AND- To qualify for this position at the GS-8 level, you must be able to demonstrate the following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities at the GS-8 level.1. Knowledge of human resource management policies and procedures, and the ability to supervise various levels of pharmacy technicians and other technical personnel (for supervisory assignments). 2. Ability to apply management and leadership principles. 3. Ability to communicate orally and in writing. 4. Extensive working knowledge of the pharmacy operation. 5. Pharmacy Technician Qualification Standard. Physical Requirements:
The work involves a percentage of time at a computer, but is not mainly sedentary. The tasks of training, staff development and trouble shooting require that the incumbent interface with various Pharmacy activities (i.e., inpatient, outpatient and administrative), as well as other services and personnel in the Medical Center. The activities necessitate the need to walk to many areas of the Medical Center. The physical requirements include the need for walking, stooping, bending, lifting up to 15 lbs over head, squatting, and reaching.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
