The Iowa City VA Health Care System (ICVAHCS) is recruiting for a full-time Psychologist. The ICVAHCS is one of the facilities of the Midwest Health Care Network (VISN 23).

NOTE: The full performance level of this vacancy is GS-13. The actual grade at which an applicant may be selected for this vacancy is GS-11 to GS-13. The Professional Standards Board (a peer-review group) will review the selected candidate''s qualifications and recommend the grade and step at which the candidate will be placed. The salary is based on the grade and step approved for the selected candidate.

This co-located, collaborative care (CCC) psychologist position is administratively within the Extended Care and Rehabilitation Service Line. The CCC behavioral health provider (psychologist) functions as part of the Pain Specialty, Home Based Primary Care (HBPC), and Palliative Care Consult multidisciplinary care teams. The focus is on general service delivery for a wide range of concerns and resolving problems within the Extended Care and Rehabilitation service context. Behavioral health visits are generally 20--30 minutes and are provided in the specialty care practice area, structured so that the patient views meeting with the behavioral health provider as a routine primary care service. CCC BHPs function can expect to consult with 8-10 patients per day with the primary goals of assisting team members with identification, treatment, and management of mental health and behavioral medicine conditions in the enrolled population.

Hold a full, current, and unrestricted license to practice psychology at the doctoral level in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia
Have a doctoral degree in psychology from a graduate program in psychology accredited by the American Psychological Association (APA). The specialty area of the degree must be consistent with the assignment for which the applicant is to be employed.
Have successfully completed a professional psychology internship training program that has been accredited by APA. Exceptions: (1) new VHA psychology internship programs that are in the process of applying for APA accreditation are acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement, provided that such programs were sanctioned by the VHA Central Office Program Director for Psychology and the VHA Central Office of Academic Affiliations at the time that the individual was an intern and (2) VHA facilities who offered full one-year pre-doctoral internships prior to PL 96-151 (pre-1979) are considered to be acceptable in fulfillment of the internship requirement.

Physical Requirements: Near vision correctable at 13 to 16 to Jaeger 1 to 4. Ability to distinguish basic colors, hearing (aid permitted), The work of this position is primarily sedentary. Physical demands do not exceed those of a typical office setting. There may be some walking, standing, twisting, turning, sitting, pushing, bending, repetitive keyboarding or carrying of light items.
