Job Description:
This position will help the ACT Office for Innovation evaluate and understand the growing space of game-based learning, engagement, and assessments. Research and prototyping will emphasize data infrastructures and analysis methods which inform core design and embedded assessment of virtual learning worlds. Potential game systems of study include web-based exploration of player interests and 21st skill development connected to future vocational trajectories. Adaptation of game-based assessment for mobile devices will also be considered, centered on domains like STEM education and cognitive skill development (e.g. memory, attention, and processing speed). This internship scale of study will help furnish generalized approaches to data analysis for games that lend themselves to large-scale research.
Typical work-related activities include:
Design and help prototype specific formative and summative game-based assessment mechanics in gamespaces designed for diagnostics and learning.
To inform above design, reseach current literature in psychometrics, authentic assessment, evidence-centered design, and data mining practices in education (including learning analyics and educational data mining).
To inform robust evidence models, identify and review relevant research for the base game content model (e.g. career-specific personality attributes, cognitive skills, soft / 21st century skills, and the role of interest and academic self-efficacy).
For seamlessly embedded assessment, research & adopt applicable current best practices in design of top-tier assessment-integrated educational games (equally valuing erudition and engagement).
Research and prototype vital click-stream data infrastructures needed to yield supervised, relevant, context-rich data for use in evaluating student interaction with above designed assessment mechanics.
MINIMUM
Qualifications:
Applicants must be currently enrolled in their second year of a graduate or doctoral program in Digital Media Education, Games & Learning, or a related area.

COMPENSATION:
Total compensation for the nine-week position will be $6,750.00, less applicable taxes.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
