Support Youth in Crisis at a Unique Therapeutic Shelter CommUnity Crisis Services seeks passionate and dedicated Youth Advocates to join our innovative program at the Healing Prairie Farm! This therapeutic environment combines nature and evidence-based practices to empower youth facing homelessness, trauma, and mental health challenges.
In this rewarding role, you will play a crucial part in providing initial mental health and basic medical screening for youth in crisis.
Responsibilities:
Mental Health Screening:
Welcome and engage clients, collect relevant information about their crisis, and perform necessary screenings (suicide risk, homicide risk, self-injurious behavior, etc.
).
Crisis Counseling:
De-escalate client crises, provide trauma-informed counseling, and establish therapeutic relationships.
Care Coordination:
Collaborate with community partners to arrange appropriate levels of care and build strong resource networks.
Information & Reports:
Maintain detailed client records, prepare documentation, and contribute to program reports.
Flexibility & Collaboration:
Adapt to different situations, utilize various counseling styles, and contribute to teamwork.
Multiple Full-Time & Part-Time Schedules Available:
Current priority is 2nd and 3rd Shift (afternoon, evening, and overnight) 8 and 10-hour shifts available for full-time Youth Advocates 6, 8, and 10-hour shifts available for part-time Youth Advocates Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in human services with 2 years of experience in mental health counseling.
Effective communication and counseling skills.
Qualifications:
Experience working with youth and trauma-informed practices.
Familiarity with suicide risk screening.
Crisis intervention and suicide prevention/postvention skills.
Familiarity with community resources and diverse populations.
Ability to prioritize, work independently, and write reports.
Bilingualism in Spanish, Arabic, French, or Swahili (highly desired).
Personal attributes like professionalism, dedication, teamwork, and a positive attitude.

Competitive salary ($20-$22 per hour).
