3K a year The University of Iowa Center for Advancement seeks a driven, innovative, and highly skilled executive director to serve as a strategic partner committed to the College of Education and University of Iowa success.
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of leading teams, comprehensive campaigns, and experience cultivating and closing major gifts.
The Executive Director will be an effective organizational leader and have the ability to coach and motivate an advancement team to high performance.
The Executive Director of Development will provide development officer and administrative direction for the college.
This person will be visionary, strategic, and a results-oriented leader.
The Executive Director will have oversight responsibility for all staff and activities involved with the College of Education fundraising and for completing the Together Hawkeyes campaign, scheduled to launch in October 2023.
The Executive Director will have a leadership style that is collaborative and empowers the advancement staff through active communication and delegation.
This person will possess the ability to coach, instill vision, motivate, and comprehensively outline the endeavors for the College of Education.
Additionally, this person will work closely with the Dean of the College of Education and his leadership team, maintain a portfolio of major and leadership gift prospects, and optimize the use of the Dean for soliciting gifts from new and current donors.
Leadership highlights:
College of Education Leadership Plans and oversees the overall UICA operation of the College of Education.
This includes reporting, budgeting, and financial responsibilities of units within the college.
These units include but not limited to:
the College of Education, Belin-Blank Center, UIREACH, Scanlan Center for School Mental Health Develops and maintains work systems, procedures, and productivity standards that advance the mission and goals of the college and enables optimum performance of all staff members Allocates resources to effectively accomplish the work of the college and its units Monitors, evaluates, and aims to improve effectiveness of the College of Education fundraising operations Makes business decisions using UICA mission/vision and our organizational values of We Trust, We Succeed, We Grow Leaders, We Care, and We Make a Difference.
UICA People Leadership Manages all aspects of the employee lifecycle from recruitment, onboarding, and retention Is accountable to staff to take responsibility for their jobs and prioritizes trust and transparent communication as the basis for a productive relationship Supports employees in developing meaningful goals aligned with those of the College of Education / UICA and in achieving/surpassing those goals Inspires performance through empowerment, using clear expectations and open to ongoing feedback Supports all staff as they work to meet expectations for productivity, quality, and goal attainment Identifies and anticipates competency gaps within individuals and the collegiate unit as a whole Motivates, develops, coaches, and rewards employees for growth in competencies over time, leading to new opportunities for subject matter expertise or leadership Partners with Talent Management to achieve optimum results for employees, self, the college, and UICA Creates a work environment that is consistent with UICA mission/vision and that emphasizes our organizational culture and values of We Trust, We Succeed, We Grow Leaders, We Care, and We Make a Difference.
Fundraising expectations:
Identification Advises Prospect Management staff in the identification of prospects (based on capacity, giving history, and affiliation) from among pools that may include alumni, parents, fans, patients, or other supporters of the university Works with Prospect Management staff to develop strategy for managing prospects Provides strategic input into the design and implementation of engagement events and referral programs designed to build long-term relationships and attract major gifts Conducts all activities, particularly those involving patient data, according to established laws, policies, procedures, and standards and with the full support of UICA, UI, and UI Hospitals and Clinics as relevant Qualification Manages their qualification pool of potential major gift prospects with the goal of growing a continuous pipeline of donors capable of making gifts of $50,000
Uses data and institutional knowledge to determine whether prospects should be Disqualified and removed from their prospect pool or Qualified and added to the appropriate prospect portfolio Models and coaches the role of a trusted philanthropic advisor, using transparent communication, data, and educating donors about the giving process Cultivation Manages their prospect portfolio of no more than 30-35 major gift prospects and develops their readiness to advance toward solicitation Develops and implements donor-centric cultivation strategies, collaborating with colleagues as needed Facilitates prospects' decision-making process; helps them understand next steps and articulate the link between their personal objectives and institutional priorities Maintains knowledge needed to ensure donors are fully informed about the full range of all giving options, including deferred or planned giving Solicitation Meets expectations according to evaluation year metric measurements.
This includes number of gift solicitations, number of gifts closed, and average gift closed as primary stakeholder.
Consistently work with supervisor to determent annual metric goals related to UICA's metrics Collaborates with the appropriate UICA or UI staff member to complete and plan next steps Identifies the impact a donor wants to support while meeting the donors funding interests Employs appropriate methods of communication in order to achieve stated objectives for each step of the process Stewardship Develops, implements, and participates in appropriate stewardship activities for donors Maintains integrity of constituent database through timely submittal of donor plans and contact reports for all interactions Constituent Management Partners with campus leaders and UICA leadership to develop strategic fundraising priorities and a comprehensive multi-year plan to increase private gift support Manages fundraising program for assigned unit, including any special campaigns for program and capital support, in cooperation with campus partners/leaders Leverages relationships with campus partners and off-campus partners to communicate frequently regarding progress toward goals and related objectives and projects Prepares partners as necessary for donor meetings and guides their critical role in the giving conversation and donor engagement process Provides annual giving strategy, the development of fundraising materials for assigned units including mailings, brochures, donor recognition, and reports Position allows for telecommuting/work from home (up to 2 days per week depending upon business need and leader approval).

Education &
Experience:
Bachelor's degree and 7
years of related experience required, preferably in a fundraising, nonprofit, or higher education setting.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
