50 an hour Previous Experience Desired Experience working with children and adults from diverse ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds Skills and Qualities Needed Essential to the BBBS brand, the primary function of this position is responsible for the overall administration, implementation and management of the Sports Buddies mentoring program.
Plans, schedules and oversees all Sports Buddies activities and establishes and maintains positive collaborative relationships with community partners.
This includes mentoring specialist duties:
ensure that volunteers and children are appropriately enrolled and matched while executing a high degree of independent judgment when utilizing BBBS standards and practices, to provide match support to ensure child safety, positive impacts for youth, constructive and satisfying relationships between children and volunteers, and a strong sense of affiliation with BBBS on the part of volunteers.
A high-level customer service, focusing on volunteer options and child safety, is to be demonstrated throughout the volunteer and child enrollment and matching process.
Ability to organize and carry out an independent plan of work, including several phone contacts per day and community outreach Excellent communication skills with families, youth, and volunteers Dependability and dedication Ability to adapt to and contribute to a dynamic work environment Spanish fluency is not required but highly valued Job Responsibilities Responsible for the successful launch and operation of the Sports Buddies program; attain projected goals and metrics, including enrollment of a minimum of 45 matches by end of year 1.
Collaborate with Program and Outreach Specialist do develop/execute specific recruitment collateral and activities to attract male and BIPOC volunteers to the Sports Buddies program.
Serve as partner and liaison between BBBSJC partnerships and the community at large.
Develop new relationships with sports-related community partners while maintaining existing agency partnerships.
Plan, organize, and implement Sports Buddies activities and celebrations within approved program and budget parameters.
Responsible for all aspects of risk management during events and activities.
Provide support, supervision, and resources for a caseload of mentoring relationships, including mediating concerns and promoting positive youth development Orient, interview, and evaluate prospective volunteer mentors Enroll new children and families Screen program applicants, assess compatibility, and introduce new mentors to their Little Brother/Sister and their family Maintain regular contact with all parties according to program policy and national standards Document all interactions in a timely and thorough manner Assist team in building collateral and telling the BBBS story Work collaboratively with community partners Prepare reports as requested Early evening hours or weekend will be required for appointments and contact with families (1-2 evenings/month after 5:
00 pm).
Evening hours or weekend will also be required 1-2 times/month for group activities.
Education Bachelor's Degree (Experience may be considered).
We are looking for a candidate that has lived a shared experience with the youth/families we serve.
Other Requirements Satisfactory completion of criminal background and driving record checks.
An arrest or conviction does not automatically disqualify any applicant.
Proof of current automobile insurance is also required prior to first day of work.
Salary Range and Benefits $16.
50 - $17.
50 1 FT @40 hours/week, dependent on education/experience.
