5K a year Basic Job Function and Responsibilities This position will be responsible for receipt, verification, and preparation of specimens, collection of specimens, and processing of specimens in preparation for testing.
In addition, this position will work closely with client office personnel and laboratory personnel to insure professional and efficient response to questions and concerns.
Job Duties/Performance Expectations Data entry of specimens into laboratory information systems.
Demonstrate an understanding of the information systems in use (in house and client software).
Fill supply orders to send with courier to clients.
Laboratory report handling and transmission of report(s) to clients.
Medical Necessity checking of specimens.
Ordering and stocking of supplies in the department.
Performs Venipuncture/specimen collection.
Prepare all specimens for testing in designated laboratory departments.
Preparation of specimens for referral testing.
Prepare, maintain, and monitor equipment for proper operations.
Prepares all specimens for storage after testing.
Prepares Pap smear slides for interpretation by cytotechs (preparation and staining).
Provides clerical support including answering phones, completing paperwork, filing, report and log printing.
Quality Assurance monitoring as assigned including temperature recording.
Receive, unpack, and verify specimens from outreach clients.
Responds promptly and courteously to client and patient requests, concerns, and questions.
Retrieval and handling of specimens for additional testing requests.
Serve as resource person to client offices.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Requirements Education High school diploma or equivalent experience - Required Degree in a health science related field - Preferred Experience One year phlebotomy experience or graduation from a Medical Assistant program, or a combination of education and recent health care-related work experience is required.
Previous laboratory or physician office experience is desired - Required Knowledge of diagnosis coding, medical necessity rules, and laboratory test requirements is highly desirable.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
