Associate Research Scientist

The Stead Family Department of Pediatrics, Division of Neurology is seeking an 100% FTE Associate Research Scientist (PRJ2) position.
Our lab investigates functional neuroanatomy using the lesion method.
We combine cognitive neuroscience and advanced imaging approaches to elucidate the anatomical substrates of human behavior.
The research scientist would be an integral member of the Boes Lab and would help to oversee certain aspects of the day-to-day operation of the lab, that includes performing analyses, writing manuscripts, working with graduate students and post-docs, and preparing grants.
This is a specified term position.

About the Division of Pediatric NeurologyThe Division of Child Neurology is committed to providing excellent clinical care, educating trainees at all levels, and advancing knowledge through biomedical research.
All child neurology faculty members are board certified in neurology with special qualifications in child neurology.
Child neurology faculty members work together with pediatric neurology nurse practitioners and specialized nursing staff to deliver outstanding care in all aspects of child neurology.
Faculty and staff work closely with other clinicians throughout the UI Healthcare system offer our patients comprehensive care.
The division has particular clinical expertise in epilepsy, neurogenetics and neuromuscular disorders.
As part of the Iowa Comprehensive Epilepsy Center, the division provides a full range of treatment and evaluation including ketogenic diet, vagal nerve stimulator, and surgical evaluation.
The neuromuscular program provides multidisciplinary care to individuals with diseases of the muscles or nerves.
Child neurology clinics are held in the University of Iowa Children's Hospital Pediatric Specialty Clinic and in outreach clinics across the state of Iowa.
Required Qualifications PhD or MD/PhD degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Cognitive Science, or a related field.
Minimum 3 years of related experience.
Existing track record of peer-reviewed scientific journal publications in the domain of human neuroscience.
Excellent programming skills.
Minimum 4 years of experience in biomedical research.
Previous graduate or postgraduate experience in imaging.
Demonstrated commitment to promoting a diverse workforce and environment.
Excellent written, verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
Excellent organizational skills and demonstrated ability to accurate complete detailed work.
Desired Qualifications Expert knowledge of a scientific programming language (preferable MATLAB and/or Python).
Experienced in analyzing and interpreting data from one or several of the following human neuroscience techniques:
EEG (Intra- or Extracranial), TMS, tractography, fcMRI, lesion mapping.
Able to work and learn independently and motivated to contribute to the wider research mission of the lab.
Well-organized and able to coordinate an interact with a team of other post-doctoral scholars, graduate students, research assistants, undergraduates, and intra- and extramural collaborators.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
